ALEKOS FASSIANOS

Alekos Fassianos and his work is well known and loved in Greece as well as abroad. The aim was to showcase the best of his work in a creative environment with a user-friendly navigation, since websites like this should appeal to everyone regardless. With total respect to Fassianos’ huge heritage, we created an environment with plenty of space so that his colourful and at times abstract work can be accommodated in a respectful way.

In order to bring art lovers as well as younger generations closer to understanding Fassianos’ work, we added the functionality of a super zoom on his art, so that one can enjoy the selected work in great detail, as if they stood in front of a painting and persistently / thoroughly studied the technique used by the artist. Thus, on the projects’ page, the content architecture follows a specific hierarchy and as a result the visitors can enjoy an overall view of the artist’s work, even on responsive/ mobile devices.

The characteristic pigeon that features on many of Fassianos’ work was digitalised and used as the logo of the website, as this is the most iconic element of his work, and as he himself states that “Colour should always have a meaning”, blue and white are the basic colours of the website stating both its Greek origin as well as the connection to his style of work.

We chose to use a Sans Serif typography to communicate the artist’s style of origin, while Serif establishes a more sophisticated and emotional approach to the fascinating world of Alekos Fassianos.

The site works impeccably on all mobile devices, making the artist’s work accessible to everyone, with the best experience even displayed on the smallest possible resolutions.
